The upcoming Bentley Bentayga has been revealed to a select audience in Germany today, in a brown metallic colour. The invite, shared to potential customers including SteeringNews.com reader Dames Jean, reads “Be first to see the Bentley Bentayga”.
The Bentley Bentayga will have its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA 2015) in September. It is said to be the company’s first model to be offered with a diesel engine and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, as per a report, and is “the most luxurious and fastest SUV in the world.”
The company announced its plans for offering a plug-in hybrid powertrain on the crossover with unveiling the Mulsanne-based Hybrid Concept at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. Bentley said that this powertrain is 25% more powerful and emits 70% lesser CO2 (presumably compared to a conventional petrol powertrain).
The luxury crossover should, and reports claim that it will be, offered with the revised version of the 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine that was announced at the 2015 Vienna Motor Symposium in May. The direct injection turbocharged engine produces 599 hp and 900 Nm of torque, capable enough to make the car complete the 0-100 km/h run in under 4 seconds and hit a top speed of over 300 km/h.
