Bentley may celebrate its centenary year in 2019 with the launch of a new hypercar. According to a report from TopGear, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer has confirmed that a £1 million hypercar and a number of other options are being evaluated for the milestone year in the company’s history.
“Our centenary would be a good time to create a new limited series car”, Mr. Durheimer told the publication.
“That project (Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept) will be investigated intensively in Crewe within the next month,” states Dürheimer. “The question is, do we build the standard car you would expect in that segment? Or do we go with lots of carbon fibre and lightweight components? Now that would be a car we could take to the big guns.”
The new report is consistent with a previous report that said that the British luxury automaker was going to decide on the production of the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept in Q4 2015 (October-December 2015). The EXP 10 Speed 6’s production version could be based on the Volkswagen Group’s new rear-wheel drive MSB platform. This platform is also said underpin the next generation Continental GT and the next gen Porsche Panamera.
