Blood Type Racing-tuned Hyundai Veloster headed for 2015 SEMA Show

October 8, 2015

Chicago-based tuner Blood Type Racing Inc. has modified a Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec specially for the 2015 SEMA Show.

The modified Veloster Turbo R-spec gets a dark and evil look which begins with the Carbon Black paint job followed by a contrasting red racing stripe starting from the front splitter and moving up to the hood. The exterior also sports a wide body kit and red SSR wheels. The aggressive touches are lent by the front aero canards, front splitter, rear spoiler and finally by the red “demon eye” projector headlamps.

The interior is stripped out as the focus is on performance. It has been given the race treatment with a four-point roll cage, Sabelt bucket seats, steering wheel and harness. The audio system has been upgraded by Rockford Fosgate and OLED Revel gauges have been provided by Tanabe.

BTR has heavily modified the stock 1.6-liter “Gamma” four-cylinder engine. It has added new cylinder sleeves, a high-boost turbocharger from Garrett, and custom connecting rods and pistons. The ECU has also been retuned, which results in a power output in excess of 500 hp.

Announcing the 2015 SEMA Show contender with Hyundai, Sam Lee, Director of Marketing, Blood Type Racing said: “The focus of this build was to boost the performance capabilities of the Veloster R-Spec while creating one of the angriest-looking Hyundai vehicles to chew up the pavement. With a specific output of 312 horsepower/liter, we’re pushing this small displacement motor close to Formula 1 levels of performance.”
