A rendering from X-Tomi Design hints how BMW’s coupe version of the all-new 7 Series flagship saloon would look like. Going with the brand’s new nomenclature system of renaming coupe version to the next Series number, the rendering artist has rightly named the grand tourer as the 8 Series Coupe, thus being the spiritual successor of the original 8 Series coupe.
The 8 Series Coupe could be a flagship product in BMW’s 2-door range, which includes the 2 Series Coupe, 4 Series Coupe and the 6 Series Coupe in the future. Perhaps, there could be a Convertible model too, if the demand exists. Close rival Mercedes-Benz already offers the S-Class Coupe as a coupe version of its flagship saloon S-Class, and is about to introduce the convertible version of the same later this year. Although Audi doesn’t have such a product in its portfolio, the first Audi Prologue concept did give us an insight at a future 2-door flagship.
BMW may answer both of them with the 8 Series Coupe and Convertible, arriving in the next 2-3 years’ time. Don’t be hopeful for a high-performance M variant though, not until the 7 Series itself gets one.
