The highly-sought but short-lived BMW 1M Coupe will get a replacement via the BMW M2, since the Coupe derivative of the 1-Series is now sold as the 2-Series. According to Dackelone, a member of the 2Addicts.com forum, the BMW M2 will sport the Bavarian automaker’s N55 twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine dishing out 370 PS (365 hp) and 465 Nm of torque.
The twin-turbo engine will also feature an “over boost” of +35 Nm in low to mid engine speeds. The engine can be expected to be offered with two transmission options – a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). The tradition of a rear-wheel drive setup will most likely carry over.
The forum member also reveals some details on the exterior and the interior of the 2016 BMW M2. Four body paint choices will be available at the launch – Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Long Beach Blue metallic and Mineral Grey Metallic. The interior will be available only in Black scheme with Blue accent stitching.
The BMW M2 is expected to launch at the IAA 2015 in September.
