BMW’s stand at the 2015 SEMA Show includes the recently unveiled M2 and M4 coupe, both wearing M Performance parts for a sportier appearance. These are the very first models to carry the new “M Performance” inscription which will eventually filter down to the entire range.
The M2 M Performance’s exterior description begins from the face which gets gloss black grille with M specific twin bars for the signature kidney grille and gloss black grille surrounds. The sides feature gloss black trim bars for the M side gills and carbon fibre mirror caps. The posterior receives rear spoiler and tail pipes in carbon fibre.
The interior gets an M Performance steering wheel covered in Alcantara and an open-pore carbon fibre trim element. The M Performance gear selection lever is also in open-pore carbon fibre while the center console has a combination of carbon fibre and Alcantara. Amid all this carbon fiber and Alcantara, the pedals finished in stainless steel hold a distinct appeal of their own. Under the body, changes are seen in the M Performance suspension and sports exhaust with flap system. The M Performance parts for the M2 will be available from Spring 2016.
The M4 M Performance gets a more striking face with the bumpers bearing Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) inserts. Like the M2, the M4 also gets a high gloss black grille with twin bars. The side profile is embellished with M Performance side sills made from polyurethane (PUR), exterior mirror caps in carbon fibre and M Performance side gills in high gloss black finish. Also, the racing stripes at the side add further dynamism to the exterior. The rear continues with the sporty theme, and gets a carbon fibre rear spoiler featuring “M Performance” inscription on its endplates, three-fin carbon fibre diffuser and dual twin tailpipes with carbon fibre tips.
Inside, there is an Alcantara Anthracite covered steering wheel with blue center marking, carbon fibre is used for the door and handbrake handles with the latter getting an Alcantara gaiter. The pedals are fitted with M Performance pedal coves made of stainless steel. There are LED door projectors also. Under the skin, the M4 has M Performance adjustable coilover suspension for a sportier ride. Some parts of the new range of M Performance for the M4 Coupe will be available from January 2016 with the entire range available by June 2016.
