Following the recent leaks, the BMW X4 M40i has been officially revealed in the Long Beach Blue exterior colour. As noted before, the exterior of the M variant is almost similar to the standard variant equipped with the M Sport package.
A few things that give it uniqueness are the Ferric Grey finishing on the mirrors, 20-inch M light-alloy double-spoke wheels with Ultra High Performance tyre mix (front 245/40 R20, rear 275/35 R20), sports exhaust system with valve control and Chrome Black tailpipes on both sides of the bumper. Noteworthy interior features include M leather steering wheel, M gear shift lever, sport seats, model-specific door sills and “X4 M40i” digital lettering on the instrument cluster.
What significantly differs in the M variant is obviously the vehicle’s performance and driving dynamics. A newly developed 3.0-litre M performance TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder petrol engine powers the BMW X4 M40i. It produces 265 kW (360 hp) and 465 Nm of torque, and is coupled to an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission. The steering, damping system and a number of other elements are tuned for enhanced driving dynamics. The xDrive all-wheel drive system has been configured to send more power to the rear wheels.
The BMW X4 M40i can reach 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are rated 11.63 km/l and 199 g/km respectively, but may change depending on the selected tyre format.
