Borgward, an automotive company that in its heyday employed more than 23,000 people and produced more than a million vehicles, have teased an image of its new crossover that will mark the brand’s comeback.
Similar in size to the Mercedes Benz GLE, little else is known about the Crossover apart from the fact that the capabilities of the vehicle have been fine tuned by testing on the Nurburgring and it will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Earlier in the year the company had showcased the late 50’s Isabella Coupe at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. According to the company, a full range of Borgward Cars will be launched in the coming years with the first model due to be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The company also states that a special emphasis will be given to e-mobility and the Borgward Multiple Interaction Model, hinting that the new model could be a hybrid.
The company is now being led by Christian Borgward the grandson of the company founder Carl F. W. Borgward, headquartered at Stuttgart, Germany. KarlHeinz L. Knoss, an industry veteran who has worked with Saab and Daimler, will be heading the company as the Vice President and CEO. Einar Hareide, has been charged with being the head of design.
Going forward Borgward aims to launch two to three models every year to offer an comprehensive range, with the focus initially being on Germany and other emerging markets.
