Hyundai has revealed the prices of its 2016 Sonata Hybrid for Canada. Built at Hyundai’s Asan plant in South Korea, the all-new Sonata Hybrid range will start at CA$29,649 and arrive in dealerships across the country this month.
The 2016 Sonata Hybrid features a 2.0 Litre GDI four cylinder engine along with a 38 kW electric motor with a combined output of 193 hp at 6,000 rpm. The petrol engine individually produces 154 hp of power and 140 lb-ft (189 Nm) of torque, while the 38 kW electric motor generates 51 hp and 151 lb-ft (204 Nm) of torque. The hybrid powertrain is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Lithium-polymer battery pack has a capacity of 1.62 kWh and fits neatly under the trunk floor which allows for 60/40 split folding seats and a flat floor. The all-new model offers a 10 percent increase of boot space over the outgoing one to 384 liters due to the implementation of efficient design and a compact battery pack.
The Hybrid variant has a class-leading 0.24 coefficient of drag, with modifications being made to the front fenders, side sill mouldings, bumpers and grille when compared to the standard Sonata.
Standard equipment includes LED tail lights, 16-inch aluminium alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reversing camera, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist. The Limited trim adds 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and leather seats. The Ultimate trim gets Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, High Beam Assist and Bi-Xenon HID headlights. The interior features include 9-speaker audio, integrated memory system and ventilated front seats among others.
