Mitsubishi Canada has updated the Mitsubishi Lancer sedan for 2016. The facelift is expected to hit showrooms next month with the addition of two new sedan pricelines.

The exterior changes are mostly limited to the front fascia that get LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and more equipment as standard. Two new trims have been added to the range, the ES and the GTS. The Lancer ES is offered in front-wheel drive and also in all-wheel drive with the ES AWC (All-Wheel-Control).

The ES in front wheel-drive configuration is priced at CAD 17,498 with 5-speed manual gearbox or CAD 18,698 with the new CVT-8 gearbox. Power is sourced from 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit producing 148 hp and 145 lb-ft (196.59 Nm) of torque. A huge list of equipment comes as standard, and these include seven airbags, ABS, active stability and traction control, anti-theft immobilizer, the full suite of advanced braking software, cruise control, steering-wheel mounted cruise and audio controls and Bluetooth 2.0 hands-free interface, automatic climate control, heated front seats, power door locks with remote key-less entry and heated and folding power-side mirrors.

The AWC variant of the ES is powered by the bigger and more powerful 2.4-liter inline four engine that generates 168 hp and 167 lb-ft of torque (226.42 Nm), paired with the CVT gearbox. This model is priced at CAD 20,998 and gets all the aforementioned features with the inclusion of hydraulic power-assisted rack and pinion steering, paddle shifters, rear stabilizer bar and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Next up is the other new addition for 2016, the Mitsubishi Lancer GTS sedan. This model is also powered by the 2.4-liter unit making 168 hp but with the choice of front- and all-wheel drive configurations as well as the option of 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes. This top of the line trim gets all features of the ES with the addition of sports suspension and 18-inch machine-finish alloys. On the inside, the changes are more prominent. The GTS gets a six-way adjustable sport bucket front seats clothed in sport fabrics, six speakers, gloss-black accents on the instrument panel and door pads, display audio system with rearview camera, and a multi-function colour display. The cost for the GTS is as follows – CAD 22,998 (FWD), CAD 24,298 (CVT-8) and CAD 25,998 (AWC).

Further options such as leather front seating surfaces, FAST-Key, Xenon HID headlamps, 710-watt Rockford Fosgate, nine-speaker audio system can be added to GTS at a premium of CAD 2,000.
