Toyota Canada has introduced the 2016 Toyota 4Runner with additional features as part of standard equipment. Drawing on more than 70 years of truck building experience, the 4Runner has been developed to endure challenging weather conditions, while providing a great driving experience.
The 2016 4Runner is available in both the five-passenger and seven-passenger seating configuration. The interior aims to set the benchmark for convenience and refinement, with impressive legroom for the occupants of the 3rd row, while a one-touch walk-in function for the second-row seats make ingress and egress easy.
The 2016 4Runner is available in four trim levels that include SR5, Trail Edition and Limited (5-seat) and (7-seat). The base level SR5 trim now includes the features offered on the Upgrade Package earlier as part of standard fitment. The SR5 features a 6.1-inch audio system with eight-speakers, steering mounted audio controls, navigation, Bluetooth, SofTex seating, eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, four-way power adjustable front passenger seat, moonroof, reversing camera, ECO Drive monitor, cruise control and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels amongst others.
The 2016 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition sports features designed for maximum off-road capability like lever-type 4WD selector, Multi-terrain Select, 4-wheel Crawl Control, automatic disconnecting differential, Multi-terrain ABS, Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System and off-road design aluminum alloy wheels. It also sports unique styling elements including black roof rails, hood scoop and dark silver brushed metallic trim on the outside, as well as black seats with red contrast stitching, Optitron instrumentation gauges among others inside the cabin.
The top-spec Limited trim is available in both 5-seat and 7-seat options. It features premium exterior styling with an aggressive appearance with chrome accents and unique running boards. It also features full-time 4WD with X-REAS Sport Suspension along with 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Noteworthy interior features include a 15-speaker JBL audio system with subwoofer, Premium Navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, driver’s seat memory, leather seats and Smart Key System with Push Button Start. The dashboard features woodgrain trim inserts while the front seats are heated and ventilated. It also features a full-size spare wheel, automatic headlamps and clearance and reversing sensors.
The 2016 Toyota 4Runner is powered by a 4.0-litre V6 engine carried over from the previous model that produces producing 270 hp and 376 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed ECT automatic transmission with a transmission cooler for smooth acceleration and added endurance. The engine offers fuel efficiency of 7.8 km/l (city/highway combined). The 2016 Toyota 4Runner is rated with a 2,268 kg (5,000 lbs) towing capability. The Tow Package that includes features like 4+7 pin wiring harness, trailer brake controller pre-wire, heavy duty tow-hitch receiver and supplemental transmission cooler, is standard across the range.
The 4Runner sports safety features like 8 standard airbags, front headrests with whiplash protection, three-point lap and shoulder belts, anchor points for child seats and child protector rear door locks. Additionally, the SUV is also equipped with Star Safety System with six active safety technologies like Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Antilock Brake System, Traction Control, Smart Stop Technology and Vehicle Stability Control.
