Canada: 2016 Subaru Legacy updated features and prices announced

Subaru Canada has announced the 2016 Subaru Legacy with added safety features like Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and Lane Keep Assist. The 2016 Legacy will be available in August and is priced from $23,495 for the base 2.5i variant while the top spec 3.6R variant with Limited Package and optional Technology package has been priced at $35,495.

The 2016 Subaru Legacy features a new wiper-linked automatic on/off headlamps, which switches on the headlamps if the wipers are operational more than 10 seconds; as a part of standard equipment. Other features include the addition of a new chirp for the keyless entry system and an addition of an electric rack and pinion steering system.

An outside temperature display, Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection (SRVD) indication in the dash and an auto dimming rear view mirror with Homelink will be featured in the Touring Package. The more powerful 3.6 litre engine in the Legacy 3.6R trims will feature an up-rated large brake booster.

The Legacy 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited packages get a 7 inch infotainment system which is now compatible with the Apple iPhone and also features a SiriusXM radio package and voice integration. The SiriusXM addition is available with a basic free trial of three months.

The updated 7-inch infotainment system will get SUBARU Map Update Programme which offers three free navigational updates over a period of three years. The SiriusXM Travel Link and SiriusXM Traffic additions will be offered on a subscription basis with the SiriusXM Advanced Audio Services.

The 2016 Legacy will be offered with two SUBARU BOXER engine options and will feature Subaru’s symmetrical full-time AWD system. The 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) will be offered as an option. The engine returns 9.0 L/100 km (26.14 mpg) in the city and 6.5 L/100 km (36.19 mpg) on the highway featuring Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) option that reduces emissions.

The 3.6 litre 6-cylinder engine will be offered only with the Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The engine returns 11.9 L/100 km (19.77 mpg) in the city and 8.2 L/100 km (28.69 mpg) on highway driving.
