How the Range Rover could have looked

Range Rover concept clay model

We’re thankful to Woody Thompson for showing us a sketch of what looks like a clay mock-up of a Range Rover from the recent past. This clay model should have been made during the time when Land Rover was owned by Ford Motor Company.

If you compare the image of the clay model to how modern Range Rover turned out to look, you’ll see the front fascia has come out the way most of us like. The clay model suggest Ford was trying to adjust the authentic Range Rover front end with bits and pieces from Ford pickups and SUVs.

There is no official word on whether this clay model was created by Ford or Range Rover during the development of the SUV, but for those who aren’t fans of the Range Rover grille, it could have been a lot worse!

Anupam Singh Parihar conceptualizes futuristic airport load hauler

Togian by Anupam Singh

With a zero-emission powerplant, this Airport luggage carrying trolley is designed by Anupam Singh Parihar who hails from India. Anupam’s “Togian” is a compact load hauler which can move up to 3 tons of weight.

The vehicle’s focus is transporting maximum possible load and hence there’s not much room for the operator. With a tiny cockpit built for a single person and his assistant, we’d say this sleek equipment is cleverly designed. The windshield is large which allows for high visibility, a critical factory in an environment such as an airport.

There’s aggression too – headlamps, tail lamps, flashing lamps are all designed to gel well with the overall design. The vehicle makes use of lead acid batteries, the range or the top speed is not specified.

The futuristic load carrier will look out of place in today’s airports. Perhaps ten years down the line, the Togian could carry your and my luggage while we’re in transit.

Honda Pegasus – Andrus Ciprian’s horse with supersonic ambitions

Andrus Ciprian Honda Pegasus

Romanian designer Andrus Ciprian‘s latest creation makes jaws drop. His Honda Pegasus is inspired by an aeroplane and would give pink cheeks to an F1 car.

The airplane-inspired bodywork of the Honda Pegasus is as futuristic as it gets. The front/rear wings and aero kit will make this car slip through air like a butter through knife. The powertrain for this vehicle will be no V6 or V8. An airplane for the highway needs something with more grunt. So Andrus transplants a gas turbine engine into his latest creation. The brakes need to work well, so wheels with vanes suck in air to keep them from fading.

Will you buy one if this vehicle transforms into a real-life machine?

Dalibor Pantucek’s Skoda Rapid Concept

Dalibor Pantucek's Skoda Rapid Concept

The Skoda Rapid Concept created by Dalibor Pantucek of the Royal College of Art is a vision into the future of car design. Though the car does not look like any of the cars that bear the Skoda badge, the car has been designed keeping in mind the core values of the Skoda brand such as flexibility, variability and smart decisions.

The car possesses a super and sleek chassis, whose length can be varied depending upon the conditions in which the vehicle is used. The car’s body has been designed with the prime objective of protecting its occupants, while at the same time improving the aerodynamics of the vehicle. The car also has specially designed wheels which serve as the vehicle’s pendants.

The car’s interiors have been done up in multiple layers in order to resemble the shape memory effect. This allows the occupants of the car to customize the car’s interior depending upon the number of occupants and the requirements of the occupants.

The Skoda Rapid Concept by Dalibor Pantuchek though promising and futuristic, may never see the light of day due to its not being in line with Skoda’s design philosophies.

Khalfi Oussama’s BMW X9 Concept

Khalfi Oussama's BMW X9 Concept

The car you see in the above image has been conceived by an 18-year old designer from Tunisia by the name Khalfi Oussama, and doesn’t it look stunning. The car has been christened the BMW Concept X9.

The car looks like a prime candidate to replace Batman’s Batmobile as his choice of ride in his next movie and the designer seems to have had that in mind while penning down this design. The details about the car such as its technical specifications are unknown as of now and what is also unclear is what inspired Khalfi to create this one of a kind ride.

Flavio Adriani’s Lamborghini Concept EV

Flavio Adriani Lamborghini Concept EV

Designer Flavio Adriani has created this concept Lamborghini supercar, which has been dubbed the Lamborghini Concept EV. As the name suggests this is an all-electric Lambo. The designer has created this concept as a tribute to Lamborghini’s founder, Ferrucio Lamborghini.

The concept looks to have borrowed a lot of styling lines from Lamborghini’s Gallardo and Diablo supercars and the car looks like an amalgamation of both the cars put together. The car is equipped with four electric motors, one in each wheel and the electric motors are powered by the V-shaped solar panels placed over the engine as an engine cover. The concept has also been equipped with a low frequency radiation protection panel to protect its occupants from the radiations emitted by mobile phones and other wireless devices.

The throwing out of the Internal combustion engine from the car resulted in the greatest challenge for the designer of the car. He had to find a way to bring back the glorious sound a Lamborghini emanates from its rear end. The solution the designer found was to use wind turbines to re-create the glorious Lamborghini exhaust note. Air enters the inlet tubes for the turbines through the front end of the car and passes onto the central turbine, thereby creating the sound of a jet engine.

Though the wind turbines endow the car with the Lamborghini exhaust note, they also create the problem of people looking into the sky to see if its an airplane passing over, when its actually the car that’s emanating the sound. The feeling one would get being within a car with so much of history and passion associated with it and one that also sounds like an airplane would be unparalleled.

Rob Thorman’s ‘Ben’ is a Fiat 500 gone crazy

ben rob thornham Fiat 500 EV

Auto Designer Rob Thorman believes that a car should be regarded as a member of the family in order to make sure that waste is minimized. He has come up with a concept named ‘Ben’ that he thinks can be adopted in the family by giving it your surname. Cool eh?

Smaller than a Fiat 500 with seating for 4 adults this car is powered by in wheel 30kw electric hub motors that are charged by a 300V lithium-ion battery. The car also has in wheel active shockers to make the ride more comfortable.

Quite an innovative idea, isn’t it?

Mountain Rescue was never this advanced – Say hello to CARV

CARV Rescue Vehicle

Designer Matt Hardmen has designed an eco- friendly Mountain Rescue vehicle called the CARV. It runs on a low- emission hybrid engine & is inspired by a snowmobile. It is a handy means of transport for the rescuers.

It is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel electric hybrid engine & has a steel banded rubber track system along with an air suspension that results in better handling. It can overcome any extreme terrain with ease.

It has solar panels on the body that power the electric motor. An interesting touch on this machine is the way the injured are carried. The injured person can be strapped into a stretcher at the rear of the vehicle which can be loaded in & out using a winch system.

Sasha Selipanov designs Ferrari 612 GTO

Ferrari 612 GTO Sasha Selipanov

After Ferrari unveiled the 599 GTO, people are wondering if the company has any intentions of launching the 612 GTO.

Sasha Selipanov is the man behind the idea of 612 GTO. Inspired by Vandenbrink GTO, this “angry car designer” has designed a rather good looking 612 GTO concept.

Featuring modified 458 Italia headlights, a humongous grille, 250 GTO side vents, and Aston One-77 hips, the design is elegantly rounded off with dual exhausts and transparent engine casing.

This gorgeous & utterly sexy piece of work has zero chances of going into production but it sure is one design to drool over!
