Rendering – Nissan Leaf sports coupe

Nissan Leaf sports coupe

For all of those who thought electric vehicles were only meant for inter-city transport and grocery store runs, think again.

Nissan will send the Land Glider Concept into production by using the Leaf EV’s platform. The Nissan Leaf EV sports coupe will be available in the United States in the next three to five years according to reports.

The Nissan Land Glider concept has four wheels, but it leans into corners like a motorcycle. Two people sit one behind the other and the easy navigation allows you to cut through traffic in the comfort of an air-conditioned cabin.

Measuring nearly half the width of a family car, the Land Glider Concept has a maximum top speed of 62mph.

There are no details available at this point on how much of all that is going to cross over into the production model, but expect something much more conventional from Nissan. If the vehicle turns out to be as sporty as the rendering here, then I see a lot of buyers licking their lips!

Spied – 2012 Nissan GT-R facelift

2012 Nissan GT-R

Spied while testing on Germany’s famed Nurburgring Nordschleiffe track, is this face lifted version of the Nissan GT-R sportscar. There were two prototypes of the car being tested. One appeared to be the standard version, while the was the Spec-V version.

Both the cars on test possessed similar changes to their bodywork such as a new, reshaped upper grille and a new rear diffuser. As can be seen from the above image, there is a lot of camouflage hiding the other changes to the car such as flared bumper edges behind the rear wheels.

2012 Nissan GT-R

The face lifted Nissan GT-R could also come with a whole lot of other changes, such as changes to the mechanicals of the car, like the engine, transmission, suspension and steering. Nissan is expected to unveil the face lifted GT-R sometime later this year.

Rendering – 2011 Nissan Tiida/Versa

rendering 2011 Nissan tiida

The Nissan Tiida which was launched way back in 2004 is due for a replacement and this is what the next generation Tiida/Versa could look like.

The Nissan Tiida compact car is one of Nissan’s most important models and the Nissan Leaf Electric Vehicle has been derived out of the Tiida’s platform, the Nissan B-Platform. The Tiida also shares its platform with the hugely successful Nissan Juke which has started off with tremendous sale numbers in Japan.

The next generation Tiida could do with some sporty styling and hence the headlamps inspired by the Nissan 370Z. The 2011 Nissan Tiida could grow in size and could be getting new engines and CVT units.

Renault-Nissan’s deal with Daimler could result in more powerful 4-cylinder engines finding its way under the hoop of the 2011 Tiida/Versa. We cannot also rule out the possibility of a hot-hatch based on the Nissan Tiida.

Rendering – 2012 Nissan GT-R (facelift)

2012 Nissan GT-R

A rendering of the 2012 model year Nissan GT-R has found its way onto the internet. The Nissan GT-R for the 2012 model year will receive minor updates to its design and styling. The car could feature subtle revisions to its looks in the form of a new front bumper and rear spoiler. The interiors of the car could also receive a minor nip and tuck.

The car could also feature a minor bump in its power and torque figures, due to improvements made to the engine to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy. There is also a possibility of Nissan introducing an all-electric or hybrid version of its GT-R.

The Nissan GT-R has been one of the most cult cars of the world, and the current version after beating the lap time of the Porsche 911 around the Nurburgring Nordschleife has become one of the greatest cars of this day and age.

Renault’s Twingo’s base for Nissan’s Pixo replacement?

Nissan Pixo Renault Twingo

The whole world knows that the Nissan Pixo is just a reworked and re-modelled version of the Suzuki alto which Suzuki sells in Europe. The Pixo is made in India by Suzuki for Nissan, for it to sell it in European markets on a contract basis. But, ever since the Volkswagen-Suzuki alliance, a lot of people have started raising questions about what would happen to the agreement between Nissan and Suzuki for the Pixo.

Volkswagen could force Suzuki to back out of and terminate the agreement with Nissan for the Pixo, since the Pixo directly competes with the Volkswagen Lupo in the markets where both the cars are sold.

Nissan Pixo Renault Twingo

If this happens, it will deal a major blow to the Nissan product lineup in Europe. So, Nissan will need some sort of a similar product from some other company to replace the Pixo or be sold under the Pixo nameplate. Nissan could consider partner Renault’s Twingo small car as a suitable replacement for the Pixo, since it has similar dimensions as that of the Pixo.

Rendering – Future Nissan 370Z with Mercedes engines

next gen nissan 370Z

The Nissan Zeds (Z-cars) have always been highly acclaimed by car fanatics all over the world. The 370Z, the latest iteration of Nissan’s Z-car is no exception.

Though the current generation 370Z is perfect, it is offered only with a 3.7l V6 that produces 332bhp, Nissan would be looking to spice-up he next generation Zed (rendered above) by offering a number of engine options.

As Renault-Nissan and Daimler Mercedes Benz have entered an engine-sharing pact, which would see Renault-Nissan supplying three and four cylinder gasoline engines and electric vehicle technology to Mercedes Benz and in turn sourcing four, six and eight cylinder engines from Mercedes Benz.

Renault-Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn hinted the company’s interest in plonking these units into the next gen Zed to ensure that the car meets stricter emission standards.

The engines from the Mercedes Benz arsenal that could possibly go into the future Nissan 370Z are the 3.5l V6 petrol hybrid, 3.0l V6 diesel and the 2.2l turbo-diesel hybrid. Another possible option could be Mercedes-Benz’ future Diesotto engine which is essentially a petrol engine which works like a diesel engine. A 1.8l Diesotto engine has the potential to even drive a car like the Mercedes S-Class.

Rendering: Nissan’s VW Golf Rival

Nissan VW Golf

Nissan has begun a long-term project to produce a VW Golf rival and regain ground, once occupied by the Nissan Almera and here is a rendering of the hatchback.
Nissan official -

The C segment is an obvious growth area. The Qashqai and Juke will take sales in that market, but tackling it head on means building a car that is better than the VW Golf. That’s the challenge we have set ourselves. That project is a long term goal, but it is underway.

By 2013 , we should be seeing it around, hopefully. Let’s wait and watch Nissan’s engineers in action.
