First photo of the 2012 Renault Twingo has emerged. Barring the Twizy, the Twingo is the smallest car in the Renault line up and the mid-life facelift keeps it going until the replacement expected a couple of years down the line arrives.

After having not been able to successfully sell the Koleos in the Europe, Renault is working on a brand new crossover for the European market. Codenamed X87, this car is being heavily tested and will compete with many crossovers including the upcoming Ford B-Max.

The JV between Daimler and Renault is finally kicking into action with news coming from France that the third generation Twingo will be based on the Smart ForFour. This platform (currently under development) promises to be a ‘breath of fresh air’ for both the companies.

The next generation Renault Twingo is already on Renault’s drawing board. The new Twingo due for 2013, will be jointly developed with the third generation Smart Fortwo, thanks to the tie-up between Renault-Nissan and Daimler.
