By Kaustubh Shinde

The Hot hatch just got hotter! And better! The French auto magazine Autoplus is reporting renderings of the 2011 Renault Megane III. The Renault Megane was easily one of the best looking hot hatch in its segment due to its French connection. And from the pic, it is very clear that the new Megane’s design language is very impressive and is heavily inspired by the DeZir concept.

Under the bonnet we are expecting business as usual. It should be powered by 1.4-litre, 1.6-litre and 2-litre petrol engines and 1.5-litre and 2-litre diesel engine. It should be available in 3-door and 5 door versions with prices ranging from € 15,000 up to about € 30,000.

Yet Another Rendering of the VW Golf 7

VW Golf 7

We have already got you numerous scoops on the VW Golf 7, including certain renderings & now there is yet another rendering for your eyes. This latest artist’s impression of the new Golf has the front of the recently unveiled avatar of the VW Jetta.

The trademark VW grille seen on the new Polo along with striking looking headlamps exactly like the new Jetta can be seen on this rendering. The new Golf apart from the styling changes will get a host of new technology packed in as we reported earlier.

It will have a hybrid powertrain. A 1.5-liter diesel engine will be coupled to a motor and L-Ion batteries helping the Golf return a mind-boggling gas mileage of 113mpg. With electric-only range of 48km (30 miles), this will be one of the most fuel economical hatchbacks from VW.

HCCI engine will also find its first application on the 2012 Golf. HCCI engine is a petrol engine which behaves like a diesel engine, depending on compression solely to operate in certain conditions. VW’s new 7-speed DSG will make its way on to the new Golf as well.

The car will hit Europe in 2012.

The 2012 Mazda 2 will get the new series of ‘Sky’ direct-injection petrol and diesel engines. One of the engines could be the 1.3-liter four-cylinder DI engine.

Also arriving with the new line-up of engines is the ‘Sky-Drive’ six-speed automatic transmission. Regenerative braking technology, Mazda’s ‘i-stop’ system and many other technologically advanced gadgetry will be present on the 2012 Mazda 2. The vehicle is also expected to weigh much lesser.

Rendering – Nissan Leaf sports coupe

Nissan Leaf sports coupe

For all of those who thought electric vehicles were only meant for inter-city transport and grocery store runs, think again.

Nissan will send the Land Glider Concept into production by using the Leaf EV’s platform. The Nissan Leaf EV sports coupe will be available in the United States in the next three to five years according to reports.

The Nissan Land Glider concept has four wheels, but it leans into corners like a motorcycle. Two people sit one behind the other and the easy navigation allows you to cut through traffic in the comfort of an air-conditioned cabin.

Measuring nearly half the width of a family car, the Land Glider Concept has a maximum top speed of 62mph.

There are no details available at this point on how much of all that is going to cross over into the production model, but expect something much more conventional from Nissan. If the vehicle turns out to be as sporty as the rendering here, then I see a lot of buyers licking their lips!

Rendering – Matt Williams’ 2012 Mclaren F1 successor

Matt Williams Mclaren F1

According to the reliable-as-refrigerators Autocar UK, Mclaren is working on the successor to the iconic Mclaren F1 and by as early as 2012, it will hit roads.

Mclaren Automotive has just bought out the MP4-12C supercar and its next project, the 2012 Mclaren F1, will share many similarities with it.

A mid mounted engine and a carbon fiber monocoque is what’s being talked about. Being a hypercar, weight will be as low as possible. Looks will be distinctive, and the price tag will not make you smile.

Matt Williams Mclaren F1

What Matt Williams has projected is his idea of the 2012 Mclaren F1. The design shown here is not production ready. William’s has taken inspiration from Paganis and the tail of the vehicle is reminiscent of the Ultimate Aero SSC. Both are fast and furious, so we don’t have any complaints!

Williams’ has also scrapped the centrally-mounted driver seat in favor of the conventional twin-seat cockpit. There are certain styling elements carried over from the Mclaren F1 like the vent on the hood, and the air ducts on the front bumper.

Matt Williams Mclaren F1

Will the 2012 F1 look lean, compact and light like the F1? Or will it be muscular and voluminous like the Bugatti Veyron?

Rendering – 2012 Audi A2

Here’s another graphic representation of the much awaited 2012 Audi A2 MPV. According to latest reports the next generation A2 (shown here) will come with an electric powertrain.

The car will be pitted against the likes of the Mercedes Benz B-class and the new range of BMW Megacity electric cars which reach the markets globally in 2013.

Audi is looking to resurrect the A2 using the low-cost Audi A1 platform and giving it an electric heart.

The 2012 Audi A2 will be classified as a compact electric MPV with a monocoque shell. The interiors are designed to offer maximum room and the car will be dubbed “A2 e-tron”

Could Audi use a small diesel or petrol engine to boost the A2′s range? Only time will tell.

Rendering – Mini Minivan

Mini minivan rendering

An artist’s imaginations and expectations have gone overboard to result in this – a Mini Van (or rather a Mini Minivan). Though there is no official news about whether Mini has plans for the minivan Mini or not but it could be a good product.

The Mini Countryman Crossover SUV was the first crossover for the brand and the van could also be synthesized out of the Countryman. The Mini van could be more spacious and seat more people than the Countryman. The Mini Minivan could be a very good option for all those who want to travel together as family in style.

The Mini Minivan could be a refreshing, practical alternative to all those boring European minivans and station-wagons. And if Mini could launch the hot Mini Minivan S also, the assault would be complete.

The Mini Minivan is something that would appeal both to the European and Americans equally.

Rendering – 2011 Toyota Yaris

2011 Toyota Vitz

More renderings of the 2011 Toyota Yaris (Codename – 830L) hit sites on the internet and the buzz on the hybrid Yaris is also intensifying. Rumor has it that the next generation Yaris will look very similar to the current model. But Toyota’s engineering division has made many changes to it that it now is cheaper to manufacture.

The new Yaris, as early as December 2010, could go on sale in Japanese Toyota showrooms. Likely to come with a choice of four engines ranging from 1.0-1.4 liters, the 2011 Yaris will also have CVT option.

2011 Toyota Yaris

The hybrid Yaris will possibly be more fuel efficient than its direct rival – the Honda Jazz hybrid. The Yaris hybrid could return a combined fuel efficiency figure of 44kmpl according to AutoinCar, which in our view isn’t impossible to attain.

Rendering – Fiat 500 Spider?

Fiat 500 Spider

We are not sure if Fiat will bring out a spyder version of its 500 hatchback as shown here. The company unveiled the convertible model last year dubbed 500C at the Geneva Motor Show (pictured below). It doesn’t qualify as a “Spider” as the pillars and the connecting members are very much in tact.

Fiat 500 C

Burlapp cars speculates the Fiat 500 Spider could be priced below the upcoming Mini Cooper Spider. No substantial information is available at this point, but we’ll continue to monitor the developments on this topless Italian chick, if any, closely.

Rendering – Citroen DS5 Diesel Hybrid

2011 Citroen DS5 diesel hybrid

Citroen is developing the DS5 diesel-hybrid CUV (Crossover utility vehicle) and could unveil it by mid-2011. The Citroen DS5 would be based on the C-Sportlounge concept car showed at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The 2011 Citroen DS5 is likely to come with the a 1.6 liter HDI diesel engine powering the front wheels and two electric motors powering each of the rear wheels. This innovative four wheel drive system would result in the Citroen DS5 being super-efficient and is expected to reduce emissions by over 35%.

The rendering of the DS5 shows a slightly toned down Citroen C-Sportlounge concept car and the DS5 is expected to be the best looking CUV in Europe. However the DS5 would be getting either conventional rear door or a sliding door unlike the concept car which featured suicide rear doors.
