Spyshots: New Chevrolet Sail hatchback
Just as the Chevrolet Sail sedan makes its way into Chinese showrooms, the hatchback variant is now grouping itself for a late-2010 debut in China.
Caught testing in North China during cold weather testing, the hatchback bears close resemblance to the notchback with pulled back headlamps, split grille and enlarged bumper.
Up till the C-Pillar, things are no different. The design of the tail lamps, placed higher much up the tailgate, resembles the Fiat Grande Punto. The design is very cohesive and maintains the Sail at a safe distance from the neighboring Aveo hatchback.
The 14-inch alloy wheels are slightly a let down, but installed in the interest of better fuel economy. The Sail will come with 1.2 and 1.4-liter engines with 87hp and 103hp respectively. Five speed manual transmission will be offered initially and the EMT semi-automatic gearbox will follow shortly.
