FCA enthusiast site AllPar.com has reported that the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, launched in October, and yet to reach dealer yards, has already had over 5,000 bookings.
Dodge brand CEO Tim Kuniskis told the website that when the order book opened, they received 4,000 deposits. One Dodge dealership in the US said new orders won’t be taken until December and due to the high demand, Hellcats are selling for as much as $10,000 over and above the sticker price.
Dodge planned to make a little over 1,000 units of the car each year and it is safe to assume that the company’s forecasts were a little off the mark.
The Hellcat is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine that produces 707 hp and 880 Nm of torque, and is priced at about US$60,000. The car is built in Brampton, Ontario.
