To cater to the high demand of the SRT Hellcat model of the Challenger and Charger, Dodge is adding 1,000 more units to the car’s production run, says a recent report from Jalopnik. The Challenger SRT Hellcat and the Charger SRT Hellcat are in such a high demand because of two reasons – a) the cars themselves are premium and b) dealers have been blindly accepting orders despite being fully aware of the limited production run and their allocation estimates.
Dealers were being greedy and/or carelessly taking orders regardless of the the supply shortage and without advising buyers that their orders may not be processed, or may get delayed for many months. Eventually, FCA had to step in and release the SRT Hellcat model buying guide for buyers.
The 1,000 additional units include both Challenger and Charger Hellcats but allocation for each model remains a mystery. Citing another report by Allpar, over 2,200 SRT Hellcat models have been made till early March.
