The upcoming, eighth generation Toyota HiLux has been been leaked through new images uploaded by Ferd fan page on Facebook. The images fully reveal the exterior of what looks like the top-end model of the next-gen HiLux. The interior is also revealed in another image, revealing the driver side dashboard of the all-new pick-up. The exterior is very modern and car-like. The dashboard looks premium, considering the fact that the model spied here is a low-cost Asia-specific truck.
The front features the familiar Toyota grille and headlamp design seen on the Asia-spec eleventh generation Corolla. The headlamps apparently run projector lights and feature LED daytime running lights too. The fog lamps still use the conventional halogen lights though.
The side window panels have been redesigned and the wheel arches are now enlarged towards the top and appear more angular. Stepping inside, the cabin is more premium and elegant. The four-spoke steering wheel has been replaced by a new three-spoke steering wheel. The instrument cluster is also redesigned and houses a multifunction display in between the speedometer and tachometer now. The isn’t a touchscreen infotainment system on the model spied here, again, maybe because its Asia-specific. The Euro-spec 2016 Toyota HiLux may get an advanced touchscreen infotainment system and very likely, satellite navigation.
The 2.5- and the 3.0-litre diesel engines on the HiLux range would be replaced by new 2.4- and 2.8-litre diesel engines. Transmission choices are expected to include 5-and 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.
