Lexus has revealed the Euro-spec 2016 Lexus RX ahead of its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). It has been the luxury brand’s best selling model with over 2.2 million units sold worldwide, with three of every ten vehicles sold by Lexus being the RX.
The 2016 Lexus RX 450h is powered by an extensively revised 3.5-litre direct-injection V-6 hybrid engine producing 308 hp (230 kW). The 450h has been rated to return 54.32 mpg (UK) (19.23 km/l) with emissions of CO2 of 120 g/km.
In selected markets the RX will be offered in two other models- RX 200t with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and RX 350 with a 3.5-litre V6 direct-injection engine. Lexus has not revealed the specifications of these two engines but we expect the RX 200t to approximately produce 241 hp (180 kW) and the RX 350 to produce 295 hp (220 kW).
The all-new model will come with modern equipments like head-up display, 12.3-inch Lexus Premium Navigation infotainment system with Remote Touch controller, a 360 Panoramic View Monitor, wireless charging for smartphones and a powered tailgate.
The new generation RX features an upgraded body structure and has improved to active and passive safety technologies. It’s equipped with the Lexus Safety System + which helps mitigate collisions across a wide range of vehicle speeds.
The 2016 Lexus RX is set to go into production this month and its deliveries are expected to start before the end of the year.
