Ford has announced the Euro-spec 2016 Ford Ranger and stated that it will make its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) next week. The Ranger will feature a bold-look with the addition of new technologies and an updated engine line-up.
The company will showcase the top of the line Ford Ranger Wildtrack which features the contemporary trapezoidal grille with dark liquid metallic grey finish. The paint finish is also carried over to the side mirrors, side air vents, door handles and the load-bed rails to enhance the presence of the pick-up.
Additional detail is added by the incorporation of a unique sports hoop, Wildtrack graphics and machined 18-inch alloy wheels. The Wildtrack signature exterior paint scheme has been tweaked and now sports a new metallic Pride Orange exterior look.
Similarly, the interior features the addition of Orange accents to enhance the sporty look. The dashboard and interior panels feature the use of soft-touch materials accented by shadow chrome trim. The seats feature contrast orange stitching and pronounced graphics along with eight-way power adjustable option (driver only). It also boasts of an instrument cluster with dual colour digital display along with an 8-inch SYNC2 infotainment system.
Driver Assistance systems include Front and Rear Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Alert, Lane Keeping Alert and Lane Keeping Aid, Electronic Stability Control with rollover mitigation, trailer sway control and a Rear View Camera. The Ranger will also feature technologies like Hill Descent Control, Hill Launch Assist, Adaptive Load Control and Emergency Brake Assistance.
The 2016 Ford Ranger will be offered with two engine options featuring Auto-Start-Stop technology and Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) reducing fuel consumption by 17%. It will be powered by a 2.2-litre TDCi engine producing 160 PS (157 hp) or a 3.2-litre TDCi engine producing 200 PS (197 hp). Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and automatic and can be availed with a two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive format. The Wildtrack trim level will feature four-wheel drive as part of standard equipment.
The new 2016 Ford Ranger is expected to be available in U.K dealerships by early 2016.
