The twin-turbocharged replacement for the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Ferrari 488 GTB, was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March. Its Spider version will be called the Ferrari 488 GTS and debut at the 2015 International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September (2015 Frankfurt Motor Show), says a new report from Autovisie.
The 458 Spider which it will replace, was also unveiled at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, in 2011.
The power, of course, will come from the 488 GTB’s new 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged engine that produces 660 bhp and 760 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to 7-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission (DCT) gearbox. The automatic gearbox features Variable Torque Management system for smooth release of the torque at all engine speeds. The coupe version does 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and is capable of hitting a top speed of 330 km/h; the Spider version’s performance should get close to these figures.
The report also claims that a more powerful Scuderia version is also in the pipeline. The 488 GTB Scuderia can be expected to arrive next year with a power bump, weight reduction measures, aerodynamic enhancements and unique exterior and interior elements.
