The Ferrari 488 Spider has been officially revealed featuring a Blu Corsa body paint. The 488 Spider is the convertible version of the 488 GTB coupe and the 458 Spider’s successor. It’s the most powerful mid-rear-engined V8 supercar ever to feature a retractable hard top. The retractable hard top takes just 14 seconds to fully retract or deploy.

The Ferrari 488 Spider’s hard top can be fully retracted or deployed in only 14 seconds.

The 488 Spider features a spaceframe chassis built of 11 different aluminum alloys combined with other metals, such as magnesium. This gives the convertible also the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness figures as the coupe, and improves the chassis performance by 23% over that of its predecessor – the 458 Spider.

Under the hood is the same 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the coupe on which it’s based, that churns out the same 492 kW (660 hp) and 760 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The convertible version can reach 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds flat, and go further to hit a top speed in excess of 325 km/h.

Not that a Ferrari buyer would care, the open-top supercar’s fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are marked at 8.77 km/l and 260 g/km respectively.

The Ferrari 488 Spider will be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
