The allegedly leaked Ferrari F12 GTO has been spotted fully undisguised outside Ferrari’s plant in Maranello, Italy, ahead of its debut later this year, courtesy of Cavallino Rampante Facebook fan page.
The special edition F12 likely features a carbon fibre front lip spoiler. Carbon fibre usage appears to be on the front fenders as well, while the rear quarter panel features three vents probably to keep the 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine’s bay airy while adding to the sporty looks.
The sides feature reflectors at each end and at the rear, there’s a modified bumper with protruding exhaust pipes, repositioned reflectors, and a different diffuser, probably for higher downforce. There’s also a full-width black stripe between the tail lamps.
According to the report released last month along with the aforementioned leak, the V12 engine’s power output will be increased from 740 hp to 800 hp. The GTO variant may borrow the HY-KERS hybrid system and several other technologies from the LaFerrari. The extreme variant will be over 100 kg lighter, as per the report.
Some reports say that the Ferrari F12 GTO will be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) in September, while the others say that it will be unveiled at the 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance which is to be held on 16 August. The possibility of the latter is likely, because the Frankfurt Motor Show is already hosting the world debut of the 488 Spider.
