2016 Fiat 124 Spider front three quarters left rendering

Fiat 124 Spider rendered yet again

May 15, 2015

A new rendering from Auto-Moto previews how the new Fiat 124 Spider may be designed like. The new rendering isn’t as sporty as the earlier one and mixes retro styling with sportiness.

The front apparently features headlamps similar to that of the 500X but the dual mesh grille setup is not similar to that of the 500 family. The turn indicator lamps are positioned above the fog lamps and the windscreen frame with a silver finish perfectly matches the retro-red body paint. Chrome body side moulding garnishes the profile and so do the retro-styled funky wheels that recall the old-school steel wheels with baby moon hubcaps.

As reported earlier, the Fiat 124 Spider will be a Mazda MX-5 in Fiat skin. The Italian version will weigh less than 1,000 kg and be offered with a choice of small engines. Fiat could plonk its familiar 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged engine and offer varying power output choices. As per the agreement between the FCA Group and Mazda, the Fiat will be built alongside the Mazda MX-5 at Mazda’s plant in Hiroshima, Japan. It will debut either at the 2015 International Motor Show in Frankfurt in September or at 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show in November. An Abarth version may follow later, possibly in 2016.
