The Ford EcoSport has been refreshed for MY2015 in Europe. With the update, for the first time, the sub-compact crossover is available without a rear-mounted spare wheel, while satellite navigation and reverse parking camera will be available later this year.
The models without the rear-mounted spare wheel get tyre mobility kit as standard. Also, the rear swing-gate design for these models has been revised for an easier access to the boot space with partial opening.
Noise, vibration and harshness levels have been reduced with thicker sound deadening materials in the doors and dashboard, and tighter seals around the pedals. Engine and gearbox matching has been revised to offer more torque at low engine speeds and thus provide better drivability. The 1.5-litre TDCi turbo-diesel engine now offers 95 PS (94 hp), 5 PS (5 hp) more than before.
The height has been lowered by 10 mm for lower centre of gravity and resultant improvement in handling. The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) settings have been tuned to work better as per European driving conditions. The rear torsion beam has been stiffened for greater control of body roll and the spring and shock absorber rates have been revised to improve damping.
To offer more convenience and comfort, a Winter Pack has been introduced. It includes heated windscreen, heated mirrors and heated front seats. The Titanium models get new partial leather seats as standard. The interior has been restyled with changes like new steering wheel design with fewer buttons, and charcoal black lower instrument panel, centre console and door boards.
The instrument cluster, now with chrome-surrounded rings, features a new light dimming function. The handbrake lever positioning has been optimised for easier reach and usage.
The 2015 Ford EcoSport is now available to order in Europe.
