Ford has announced at the Canadian International Auto Show that its the Ford GT will be built by Multimatic Motorsports in Ontario, Canada. The second-generation GT was announced was just a month back at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, powered by a new twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that produces more than 600 hp.
Designed as a sheer performance two-seater supercar, the new-generation Ford GT has been introduced almost after a decade after the last GT and is one of the 12 new Ford Performance Vehicles to be launched by the end of the decade. Among the 11 other Ford Performance Vehicles, the F-150 Raptor, the Mustang GT 350R and the Focus RS were revealed earlier this year.
Multimatic Motorsports is a Canadian company with 12 manufacturing facilities spread across five countries: Canada, USA, Mexico, England and China. Multimatic Motorsports has worked with Ford for more than 20 years and has been a longstanding partner in the Detroit-based automaker’s racing programs.
Ford choosing this company specially to build the GT also hints at its impending comeback in the 24 Hours of LeMans race, but nothing is confirmed at the moment.
