Like the first-generation, the second generation Porsche 991-based Porsche 911 GT cars will also stay away from turbocharged engines, and continue using normally aspirated engines, says Andreas Preuninger, Manager of Porsche High Performance Cars, as per a fresh report from Autocar.
The Manager wants to continue the tradition of the GT3s being normally aspirated and does not feel pressurized by turbocharging being increasingly adopted in sportscars, indicates the report.
According to the report, Andreas has confirmed that the GT2 RS would be built and said that it would not arrive under the existing 911 series but instead, at the end of the Gen 2 car, possibly in 2018. Citing the Manager, the report reveals that the company may soon rethink its strategy of offering only dual-clutch automatic gearboxes on GT3 models and probably reintroduce a manual gearbox on the performance-spec models.
