Audi has quietly slipped in two new models for the A4, A5 and Q5 in Germany. Not to be confused with the S line range, the new Sport Edition and Sport Edition plus models are exclusive to the German market.
Audi A4 Sport Edition
This model is basically an A4 S line but with a few more customizations such as, split 5-spoke 19-inch alloys from the RS4 in appropriate offset for the A4/S4. These are the alloys which are offered with black optics on the U.S.-spec S4. The Sport Edition model is offered in colors which are not available on the A4 without opting for the Audi Exclusive program – Misano Red Pearl Effect, Tornado Grey Metallic, and Daytona Grey Pearl Effect. This model is exclusive to the A4 Avant and can be paired with the ‘Ambition’ trim level that has two engine choices of 3.0 TFSI and 3.0 TDI.
Audi A4 Sport Edition plus
This model is available on both, sedan and Avant (estate). The Sport Edition plus sports a unique bumper design with frowning air ducts typically seen on the RS-cars. The signature Audi single frame grille has three horizontal openings just below it, which seem like it being inspired from the A3 Clubsport TDI concept. The Sport Edition plus also gets the same 19-inch alloys offered on the Sport Edition, but one can also opt for the rotor design alloy (18-inch). Additionally, the A4 Avant has an option of a new black-finished 10-spoke wheel of 19-inch diameter too.
The main features that add uniqueness to the “plus” Avant are, black optics including grille, foglight surrounds, roof rails, and also rearview mirrors and side sill blades which are featured on S line competition models. The Sport Edition plus models are available in Daytona Grey Pearl Effect, Sepang Blue Pearl Effect, Florett Silver Metallic, Ibis White, Suzuka Grey Metallic, Misano Red Pearl Effect and Mythos Black Metallic.
Audi A5 Sport Edition
Just like the A4 Sport Edition, the A5 is also based on the S line trim. This model gets the same split 5-spoke design alloys available on the RS 6 Avant, which are 20-inches in diameter. The Sport Edition has engine options of 1.8 TFSI, 3.0 TFSI, 2.0 TDI, and 3.0 TDI and is exclusive to A5 coupé.
Audi A5 Sport Edition plus
The Sport Edition plus is available in both, A5 Coupé and Cabriolet. The Sport Edition plus model gets a wholly redesigned bumper, apparently inspired from that of the RS 5. What makes the Sport Edition plus coupé distinctive is the use of black optics including the grille surround, window trim, foglight trim, and the elements picked from the S line competition’s inventory like side sill blades and black mirrors. There are two choices available for the wheels, 10-spoke 19-inch wheel with gloss black finish and a new 20-inch wheel inspired from that of RS 6.
The Cabriolet sports Silver optics that go with the aluminum windshield frame and gloss black door sill frames. The design of the 7-spoke 19-inch wheels look similar to that of base wheels of the B7 RS 4 or the winter wheels of RS 6 Avant.
The A5 Sport Edition plus has engine choices of 1.8 TFSI, 2.0 TFSI, 3.0 TFSI, 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI, and color choices of Misano Red Pearl Effect, Suzuka Grey Metallic, Ibis White, Sepang Blue Pearl Effect, Daytona Grey Pearl Effect, Florett Silver Metallic, and Mythos Black Metallic.
Audi Q5 Sport Edition
This model is also mostly based on the S line trim. The wheels are also the already existing 10-spoke 19-inch ones, but in Titanium finish. Engine choices are, 2.0 TFSI, 3.0 TFSI, and 3.0 TDI.
