The VW Polo has turned 40 and to mark this occasion, Volkswagen has announced ‘Polo Original’ special edition in Germany. It will be limited to 1,000 units. Launched back in 1975 the Polo has sold over 14 million units globally.
To be offered only in the four-door bodystyle the special edition will include features like LED headlamps, high gloss radiator grille, painted mirror caps, smoked out tail lamps, ‘Original’ logo on the wings and embossed door sill plates. 16 inch ‘Portago’ alloy wheels will be offered along with a choice of exterior colours including the ‘Honey Orange Metallic’ paint.
The interior will feature sports seats in black/orange with a ‘tartan design’ along with faux leather bolsters and headrests. The multifunction steering wheel along with the gear lever knob and handbrake grip will get leather with ‘Truffle’ colour contrast stitching. Other interior features include aluminum look for the pedals and painted embellishments.
Climate control along with the MEDIA-IN multimedia socket and a hands free unit will be standard fitment. Safety features like Front Assist and City Emergency Braking along with a reversing camera will be offered in the special edition.
The Polo Original will be made available in six engine-gearbox variants with the price starting from €19,950 ($ 21,882). The special edition is priced €1,119 ($ 1,227) lower than the similarly equipped standard model.
