Chevrolet Camaro Krypton trademark application at USPTO

GM files TM applications for ‘Krypton’ and ‘Camaro Krypton’

May 12, 2015

Amidst a series of teasers and speculations of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, a new report has been published by GM Authority revealing that General Motors has filed new trademark applications for two names – ‘Krypton’ and ‘Camaro Krypton’. There’s nothing exciting about these names as we can safely rule out consumer products. Neither is Krypton likely to be any upcoming GM vehicle to be sold in the market, nor is the Camaro Krypton likely to be some sort of special edition Camaro going to be sold in the market.

Perhaps, this could be another GM vehicle for a Hollywood movie, indicates the report. Many GM vehicles have starred in popular movies in the recent years. The Camaro is one of the most well-known ones, having an instant recognition from the Transformers franchise. Krypton, in the fictional word of comics, TV series and movies, is the home planet of the superhero Superman. The ‘Camaro Krypton’ could have something to do with the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie that is scheduled to hit the cinemas on 25 March 2016, or Chevrolet could be prepping a high-performance, special Camaro for another big movie title.

As of now, the sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro is eagerly awaited by car enthusiasts, especially those in the U.S. which will be the first market to receive it. It will be introduced during a special event on Saturday, May 16, on Belle Isle island park where the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Ise Grand Prix is hosted, in Detroit.
