Judging from the leaked pictures of the patent drawings of the Chevrolet Traverse with Chinese inscriptions, we expect GM would soon be launching the fullsize luxury crossover Chevrolet Traverse in the Chinese market. Since GM’s only luxury SUV for the Chinese market is the Chevrolet Captiva, GM would be hoping to launch the Traverse at the earliest to cash in on the booming luxury SUV/CUV market in China and expand its range.
The Chevolet Traverse has been selling well in the American market mainly because of its 3.6l V6 Direct Injection gasoline engine which produces 281bhp. The Traverse comes in three trim levels, the LS,LT and LTZ.
GM could be bring the Traverse as an import, as is the trend in the market. The Chinese consumers prefer imported cars in the premium segments because of the quality and saftey issues of home built cars.
The Traverse range starts at US$30,000 (RMB 205,000) in the USA and when the car is imported into the Chinese market, it could retail at around US$50,000 (RMB 342,000) due to the high import taxes in China.
