Hyundai is prepping a new B-segment crossover for Europe, suggests a new report on Automobile Woche. At the annual press conference in Offenbach, Germany, Markus Schrick, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Germany announced that the company wants to introduce a new B-segment crossover designed and built specially for Europe.
As per the report, Markus Schrick clearly said that the company intends to become a real alternative to Volkswagen.
The report reveals Hyundai’s intention to cater the European market with a unique B-segment Euro-spec crossover. The crossover will not be based on the HB20 or the ix25; it will be a newly developed vehicle. The new crossover could be based on the Intrado concept that was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
As per the report, the South Korean automaker will also bring a new hybrid model to the European markets but remained silent on the details.
Earlier this week, Hyundai revealed the third-generation Tucson (previously known as ix35) which goes on sale in Europe later this year. The new C-segment crossover will rival with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai, the upcoming Renault Kadjar.
