Hyundai recently announced that Genesis is now a standalone luxury brand. Only a few days have passed and now the Korean automaker has revealed sketches of what will be the brand’s luxury flagship sedan. The model is called the G90 or the EQ900 in Korea. From its styling, it is understood that this model could have been the next gen Hyundai Equus if the Genesis brand was not approved.
The G90 being the flagship, previews the brand’s design identity and future direction. The sketch shows how the “Athletic Elegance” design has been interpreted by the Prestige Design Division into the G90. The front gets a huge hexagonal grille on top of which sits the new Genesis emblem. The headlamps are sleek-looking elongated units while the lower portion of the fascia sports a LED strip that pass off as foglamps. The side profile features big wheels, prominent wheel arches, wide C-pillar and full-length character line, while the rear is characterized with flowing tail lights.
The Genesis G90 will be based on the ‘human-centered’ technology and is said to come with engaging driving dynamics, world-class safety features and technological innovations that will set it apart in the fiercely contested luxury car market.
Woong-Chul Yang, Head of Hyundai Motor R&D Center and Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor said, “Genesis’ new large luxury sedan G90 will deliver a concept of ‘New Luxury’ to our customers. The G90 sits at the pinnacle of the Genesis brand and demonstrates how we apply our human-centered values to give our customer true satisfaction in every aspect of the vehicle ownership experience.”
The G90 will be launched in Korea early November. Hyundai says that it will be launching a total of six new Genesis models by the year 2020.
