At the 2015 SEMA Show this year, Hyundai showcased six vehicles with three of them based on the 2016 Tucson, two on the Genesis Coupe and one on the Veloster Turbo R-Spec.
Describing the company’s presence at the SEMA Show this year, Mike O’Brien, Vice President, Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America said: “Every year we partner with some of the best tuners in the business to deliver the most exciting vehicles at SEMA. With this year’s builds, we wanted to showcase a range of vehicle tunability, from off-road performers to hunkered-down racers, and these final products exceeded our expectations by every measure.”
We now take a look at all the offerings that Hyundai showcased at the famous automobile aftermarket show.
ARK Performance Solus Genesis Coupe:
This Genesis gets ARK Performance’s “Solus” wide body kit with the interior gaining a redesigned dashboard and extensive use of carbon fiber. Power was increased by increasing displacement from 3.8- to 4.0-liters. The “Lambda” V6 engine was also coupled to a Rotrex supercharger totaling the maximum power figure to 500 hp.
Bisimoto Engineering Tucson:
Bisimoto Engineering created the most powerful Tucson for its fourth consecutive SEMA Show display. The base engine was the 2.4-liter “Theta II” unit which had been heavily tinkered with to produce in excess of 700 hp. The engine internals were strengthened and the desired result was achieved with a high-boost turbocharger and an upgraded engine management system coupled to fast-burning flex-fuel system. The exterior gets a “street fighter” look that is accentuated by a custom air-ride suspension, R-compound tires and white five-star race-spec wheels.
Blood Type Racing Veloster Turbo R-Spec:
The Blood Type Racing (BTR) Veloster is one really mean hatchback that was created with an evil twist and the dark side in mind. The exterior thoroughly convey this impression with a “Carbon Black” paint job, carbon fiber wide-body kit, red racing stripe, front aero canards and splitter, and a rear deck spoiler. Power is derived from Hyundai’s 1.6-liter “Gamma” engine. The tuner has modified the unit with new cylinder sleeves, custom connecting rods and pistons, retuned OEM ECU and a high-boost turbocharger from Garrett to push power upwards of 500 hp.
JP Edition Tucson:
John Pangilinan (JP) has created the 2016 Tucson Adventuremobile for this year’s SEMA Show. The vehicle is portrayed as the ideal weekend getaway companion. Nothing conveys the weekend getaway theme more than the Treeline Tamarack tent mounted on the roof, having enough room for two to sleep. The ruggedness of the exterior is enhanced by the presence of an Aries bull bar and side steps, custom 1.5-inch lift kit, Toyo Open Country A/T II tires with RAYS Gram Lights 57DR wheels and Rigid Industries LED lights.
Rockstar Performance Garage Tucson:
This Tucson was Rockstar Performance Garage’s (RPG) first official Hyundai build for the 2015 SEMA Show. The sole purpose of this Tucson is hardcore off-roading. RPG began with the suspension and added custom adjustable shocks and struts from King Shocks. The vehicle now sits a huge 6-inches above ground owing in part, to the massive 32-inch MTZ P3 tires from Mickey Thompson. The vehicle has received performance upgrades through a high-flow Magnaflow exhaust system, K&N intake and Mishimoto intercooler.
TJIN Edition Genesis Coupe:
TJIN Edition took to underground racing culture to find inspiration for their Genesis Coupe build. The tuner started off with the 3.8-liter “Lambda” V6 engine and boosted its power upwards of 500 hp. This performance was achieved by installing a Vortech supercharger kit by Bisimoto Engineering, free-flowing exhaust, front-mount Vortech intercooler and blow-off valve. Further changes were made by putting a KW coilover suspension in place of the stock setup, custom front lip, rear spoiler and trunk lid. The body was dressed up in a custom Kylie Tjin Axalta green paint job.
