First unveiled at the 1975 Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW 3 Series completed 40 years of its journey this year. To celebrate the highly successful premium car’s 40th anniversary, BMW has announced the 3 Series 40 Years Edition for Italy.

The BMW 3 Series 40 Years Edition will be limited to just 100 copies for Italy. The company will be hosting an event to celebrate the anniversary at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence and the limited edition model will be unveiled here. The special edition model is based on the BMW 320d Touring xDrive equipped with M Sport package.

The 40 Year Edition features BMW Individual exterior paint Tanzanite Blue metallic and fine-grain Merino Opal White leather interior with contrasting black stitching Piano Black trim further adds to the elegance of interior. There’s also a brushed aluminum plaque on the centre stack that reads “40 Years Edition” and the number of the production unit from the total 100. Other noteworthy features of the special edition model include 19-inch alloy wheels, M Sport brake system and M Sport aerodynamic kit.

Each of the 100 limited edition models will be offered with a travel set that includes trolleys and backpack from Italian premium brand Piquadro. The trolley and backpack are customized with the “40 Years Edition” and the number of the production unit from the total 100.

The BMW 3 Series 40 Years Edition gets its power from the new 2.0 liter with BMW TwinPower Turbo turbo-diesel engine. The four-cylinder unit produces 140 kW (190 CV/188 hp) and 400 Nm of torque, and is mated to an 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.
