The Jaguar F-Pace has been officially unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). The F-Pace is the first-ever crossover in the company’s 80-year history, and has been designed and engineered to offer utmost in driving dynamics along with everyday versatility. It has been priced from £34,170 in the UK and is available for order now.
The Jaguar F-Pace also set a new Guinness World Record as it defied gravity to complete a 360 degree loop stunt to showcase its lightweigth design along with the ‘agility of a sports car’ to mark the occasion of the company’s 80th anniversary. The Jaguar F-Pace was driven by legendary stunt driver Terry Grant.
The F-Pace is an evolution of the CX-17 concept and is based on the British automaker’s new Lightweight Aluminium Architecture. Up front, the crossover sports an upright grille that aids in visual enhancement along with contributing to the aerodynamic efficiency. The bonnet features a power bulge asserting the dominant character while the sleek headlamps incorporating full-LED lights manage to grab attention very well. It also sports daytime running lamps with the signature ‘J’ Blade graphic along with specially developed LED fog lamps.
The silhouette has a slooping roofline that is enhanced by the vehicle’s short front overhang. The muscular wheel arches and 22-inch alloy wheels give a rugged appearance to the crossover.
The Jaguar F-Pace is a ‘true five-seater’ with ample cabin space and luxury features. It gives a sports car feel with its sports seats that also offer enhanced comfort with 14-way adjustability and heating and cooling. The seats can be specified with Windsor soft-grain leather with twin needle contrast stitching along with embossed headrests. It also can be specified with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a choice of four visual themes and 3D navigation.
The cabin can be customised with a range of trim inserts including metal finishes like Meshed Aluminium or crafted veneers such as Satin Grey Ash. It will feature the incorporation of Jaguar’s InControl Touch infotainment system as standard with an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen as standard along with navigation maps in 2D and 3D. It can also be specified with the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a 10.2-inch touchscreen with a 60 GB solid state drive and ultra-fast Ethernet network.
The InControl Touch Pro system is offered with a choice of two digital audio systems that have been developed with renowned British audio expert Meridian, including a 17-speaker, 825W surround sound setup that has been designed for ideal sound reproduction with low levels of distortion.
The Euro-spec model will be powered by a range of Euro 6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. The Ingenium diesel range includes an all aluminium 2.0-litre engine producing 180 PS (178 hp) and 430 Nm of torque. The engine delivers 57.7 mpg (20.42 km/l) and has CO2 emissions rating of 129 g/km, when mated to a 6-speed transmission in case of a rear-wheel drive setup.
The 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine develops 300 PS (295.89 hp) and 700Nm of torque. The engine will be offered exclusively with an 8-speed automatic transmission along with all-wheel drive setup. This means that it can sprint from 0-60 mph (0-96.56 km/h) in 5.8 seconds, featuring fuel consumption and emissions figures of 47.1 mpg (16.67 km/l) and 159g/km CO2 in the European combined cycle.
The 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine develops 380 PS (374.80 hp) and has been borrowed from the F-Type sports car. The engine will be mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive setup.This engine will be exclusive to the First Edition and the S trim and has the capability to propel the crossover from 0-60 mph (0-96.56 km/h) in 5.1 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (249.44 km/h).
Driver assistance systems include All Surface Progress Control, low Friction Launch, Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). It also includes safety systems like Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Park Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Reverse Traffic Detection and Intelligent Speed Limiter (ISL) along with laser head up display (HUD) and Adaptive Cruise Control system (ACC).
