Jaguar’s first ever crossover, F-Pace, will make its world debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, confirms a latest report by WhatCar. The F-Pace crossover is the production-spec model of the C-X17 Concept that was unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new crossover is expected to be the brand’s best selling model after the XE entry-level sedan, as it is likely to have a strong foothold in the luxury crossover market in major markets like the U.S. and China.
The crossover will be a five-seater and based on the same iQ[Al] platform as the entry-level XE sedan that is about to arrive in markets soon this year. The luxury vehicle will sport Jaguar Land Rover’s latest, ‘Ingenium’ range of petrol and diesel engines. The British luxury automaker’s new 9-speed automatic transmission is expected to be standard across the range. As previously noted in the spy shots, the production-spec model’s rear overhang is longer than that of the C-X17 Concept, which indicates that the cargo space in the production-spec crossover would be more than that of the Concept crossover.
The F-Pace crossover will be the second Jaguar-branded car following the XE sedan to be built at Jaguar Land Rover’s facility in Solihull, UK. Sales of the new crossover in the UK and rest of the world will most likely commence in early/mid 2016. The company is reportedly also developing an electric version of this crossver, which will have a driving range of 300 miles (480 km) and be launched in 2018.
