Following the recent leak, the 2016 Honda CR-Z has been officially launched in Japan. The second facelift is mainly a cosmetic update, but also makes the hybrid car wider by 10 mm and more comfortable to drive with revised suspension and spring rates. The disc brakes have been upgraded from 14 inch to 15 inch units.
Coming to the styling aspects, the new model gains LED headlights, new front bumper, a revised grille and side skirts, 16- and 17-inch wheels in new style, and a new rear bumper. Inside, the noteworthy changes include addition of a push button engine starter, an electronic parking brake, built-in armrest and console box. Moreover, there’s a new infotainment system featuring Honda Internavi and OBE with ETC, and a 360W amplifier and 7-speaker audio system.
The hybrid powertrain does not get any changes. It continues to work with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 118 PS (116 hp)/120 PS (118 hp) and 144/145 Nm of torque respectively, and an electric motor that produces 15 kW (20 hp) and 78 Nm of torque. Maximum fuel economy ratings in JC08 cycle are marked at 23.0 km/l for CVT transmission and at 20.6 km/l for 6-speed manual transmission.
