Subaru will launch a limited edition of the WRX STI called the “S207” exclusively for Japan on December 1, 2015. The special edition of the sports sedan is limited to just 400 units and will be available to order till March 6, 2015.
The Subaru WRX STI S207 “aims to be the world’s most enjoyable vehicle, providing a feel-good experience to all those who travel in it regardless of road conditions and enhancing driver skill.” Exterior features include 19-inch BBS forged aluminium wheels, large front spoiler, black mesh grille with red accents, black detailing on the sides with STI emblem, metallic sill moldings and rear bumper again with red accents. The WRX STI S207 edition is 4,635 mm long, 1,795 mm wide and 1,470 mm tall.
The interior gets STI-spec Recaro bucket seats finished with semi-aniline leather and heating function accentuated by silver stitching and STI logo; the rear seats are covered in black leather with silver accents, the instrument panel and side sill plates have been marked with STI logos, while the door trims have been embellished with silver stitching.
Under the bonnet, there’s a 2.0-litre dual AVCS twin-scroll turbo four-cylinder boxer engine that produces 241 kW (328 PS/323 hp) and 431 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The sports sedan has an all-wheel drive layout. There have been several adjustments made to make the ride as enjoyable as possible. For instance, the handling is enhanced with quick steering-gear ratio ratio of 11:1 and there’s a STI-designed flexible tower bar as well as front-rear Active Torque Vectoring and DampMatic II front suspension with adjustable damping (first for a Japanese carmaker). The 19-inch wheels are wrapped in specially designed 255/35R tyres and provided stopping power by Brembo 6-pot brakes at the front and 4-pot brakes at the rear biting on drilled rotors (two-piece at the front).
Subaru is also offering WRX STI with “NBR Challenge Package” which is limited to just 200 units and distinguished by the dry carbon-fiber spoiler and an ornament commemorating Subaru’s victory in the SP3T class at the 2015 Nurburgring 24-Hour Race.
Additionally, the automaker will also manufacture 100 units of the “NBR Challenge Package Yellow Edition” available in vivid Sunrise Yellow. This edition will be available to order until November 30. Prices are mentioned below.
