Jeep will debut new-for-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night and Jeep Wrangler Backcountry at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Grand Cherokee SRT Night is to “blend ultimate performance with a premium black appearance,” while the Wrangler Backcountry is meant to “celebrate the winter season.”
The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night features gloss black accents on the roof, rear spoiler, front grille bezels, B and C pillars and side window surrounds. Gloss black gives way to Satin Black with Jeep badging displayed on the hood and tailgate. There are 20-inch lightweight split five-spoke 20-inch wheels finished in Satin Black. Exterior color choices includes Velvet Red, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal.
The interior of the Grand Cherokee SRT Night is lavished with Black Laguna leather and silver accent stitching as well as light black chrome bezels. Optional features are dual-pane sunroof, 19-speaker 825-watt Harman Kardon stereo system, trailer tow package and a dual-screen rear entertainment system.
There are no changes under the hood, which means that power comes from the same 6.4-liter V8 engine good for 475 hp and 470 lb.-ft. (637 Nm) of torque. The 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) dash takes 4.8 seconds with the top speed is limited to 160 mph (257 km/h).
The Jeep Wrangler Backcountry is made to tackle the winter season and is based on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara. The exterior features powder-coated off-road front and rear bumper, 17-inch Rubicon wheels painted in gloss black, black fuel fill door and Backcountry decal on the front fender and rear quarter panel. A black hard top and Rubicon rock rails are standard. The hard top can also be brought in body color as option. There are five exterior colors to choose from – Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal and Xtreme Purple.
On the inside, the special edition Wrangler has Piano Black vent rings, door handles and grab handles. Vinyl-wrapped console lid and door armrests gain Diesel Gray accent stitching while the black McKinley leather seat bolsters come with black sport mesh inserts. A nine-speaker Alpine sound system, all-weather slush mats and Bluetooth hands-free Connectivity Group are all standard in the Wrangler Backcountry.
The Backcountry package is priced at US$4,700 while the SRT Night package for the Grand Cherokee will cost an additional US$4,995. The Wrangler Backcountry will hit showrooms late this month with the Grand Cherokee SRT Night coming in first quarter of 2016.
