AvtoVAZ have revealed the interior of the Lada XRAY compact SUV that is set to be launched early next year. The Renault-Nissan alliance controlled manufacturer had earlier showcased concepts of the XRAY at the 2012 and 2014 Moscow Motor Show.
As seen in the picture, the XRAY sports a CD player with USB and AUX connectivity, leather steering wheel as well as fabric seat covers. It gets manual transmission along with climate control with the dials resembling the ones seen on Dacia models.
The exterior of the XRAY is expected to be similar to the concept’s with muscular fenders and detailing on the door skins. However the design of the headlamp and the flashy bumper is expected to be toned down for the production version.
The XRAY is expected to get a Renault sourced 1.6-litre petrol engine capable of producing 114 hp and a 1.8-litre petrol engine developed in-house by AvtoVAZ that produces 123 hp. It will be offered with a manual or an automatic transmission option, with front-wheel drive as standard, while a 4X4 system sourced from the Dacia Duster will be offered as an option.
Production is to begin next month with the XRAY being available for sale early next year. AvtoVAZ is planning to roll out 60,000 units of the XRAY from the Tolyatti plant in 2016 and the SUV will be sold at around 7,500 USD (6,835 EUR).
