The highly anticipated second generation Ford GT is not only a long wait, but also a rare trophy to get. It’s still more than a year away from hitting the markets, and when it finally arrives, only 250 example will be up for grabs for the first year. Of these total 250 units for global markets, less than 10 could be earmarked for the UK, as per a fresh report from Auto Express.
A pre-production prototype was displayed as a surprise on a street in London with its badges taped and people who saw it thought it could be a Ferrari. Ford UK Managing Director Andy Barratt said that it garnered huge interest when it was presented at the RAC Club. The company has hinted at pricing it around £250,000, as per the report.
The 2017 Ford GT is powered by a mid-mounted 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 that cranks out more than 600 hp. Well, that’s what the official figure is. Reports say that the twin-turbo mill may produce over 700 hp. The engine will be coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle that will send power to the rear wheels.
The 2017 Ford GT will be built by Multimatic Motorsports in Ontario, Canada, with production beginning in late 2016.
