Lexus has announced that it will enter the Turkish market in Q4 2015. The first showroom will be opened in the city that lies in two continents – Istanbul. The company’s product line-up will be exhibited in the country for the first time at the 2015 Istanbul Autoshow from May 21. More showrooms will be added in the coming years as the brand plans to expand its operations in the Turkish premium car segments.
Alain Uyttenhoven, Head of Lexus Europe says that the company expects the premium automotive market in the country to grow from about 80,000 units this year to more than 100,000 units in the near future. Thus, Turkey will be among the top 7 premium automotive markets in the Europe. The demand for Lexus cars has been present for a long time.
Ali Haydar Bozkurt, President of Toyota Turkey Marketing and Sales says that there has been a demand for this luxury car brand in the country for a long time. With the renewal of the product line-up and the introduction of the new 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, this is the right time to enter the Turkish market, he adds. Lexus’ operations in the country will be managed by Abdul Latif Jameel’s (AJL’s) subsidiary, Toyota Türkiye Pazarlama ve Satis A.S. AJL is the official importer of Toyota vehicles in the country.
