As reported earlier this month, the Mercdes CLA 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG have received performance upgrade offered on the facelifted A-Class. With the facelift, the A 45 AMG saw power and torque incrementing to 375 hp and 475 Nm from 360 hp and 450 Nm, respectively. Moreover, the car now takes just 4.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h (0.4 seconds faster than the outgoing version). The 7-speed DCT gearbox has also been improved for a better response time in third through the seventh gears.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the CLA 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG will feature the same specifications as the A45 AMG. In addition to that, the two cars will also benefit from a more aggressive acceleration. The company claims that the 2016 GLA 45 AMG can propel from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds (compared to 4.9 seconds in the 2015 model), while the CLA 45 AMG reaches the same speed in 4.2 seconds, making it nearly as fast the SL 63 AMG.
Apart from this, the updated models in the US will also get Dynamic Select System, standard keyless start, dual-zone climate control and a “Turbo 4Matic” badge on the fender. The Dynamic Plus Package promises better performance with a more adaptive suspension and a responsive steering. This package also increases the top-speed to 268 km/h.
That being said, the AMG Driver’s Package will be discontinued from next year, but the AMG Performance Studio Package will be added on the CLA 45 AMG.
