The range-topping AMG variants of the A-Class based Mercedes CLA-Class and GLA-Class will get the engine upgrade offered on the facelifted A-Class, says a new report from Autocar.
Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers confirmed to the British publication that both cars will get the same technical upgrades as the facelifted A-Class that was introduced last week. These upgrades won’t have to wait until their facelifts are introduced.
The facelift to the A-Class saw the A 45 AMG’s power and torque getting increased from 360 hp and 450 Nm to 381 hp and 475 Nm respectively. Its 7-speed DCT gearbox was also revised with shorter gear ratios for quicker response times. As an effect, the 0-100 km/h speed run now in just 4.2 seconds (compared to 4.6 seconds earlier).
An optional front axle differential has also become available for the first time on the car. All these changes/additions would be rolled out to the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG and Mercedes GLA 45 AMG, and while not mentioned, can be assumed applicable to the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake.
For the visual updates though, customers will have to wait until the variants receive their facelifts.
