2016 Mercedes V-Class AMG Line announced for IAA debut

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the V-Class AMG Line and announced that it will debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA). The sportier V-Class will get the AMG Line equipment line package with unique styling features. The company has also announced updates to the standard V-Class including a panoramic roof along with refined interiors and additional equipment.

The new V-Class AMG line will include design features that have been inspired by the Mercedes-AMG range of high-performance cars. Up front, the AMG Line adds a revised front apron with larger air intakes and diamond pattern mesh along with a prominent grille. The sides feature lengthened sill panels to aid dynamism while the rear incorporates a spoiler lip along with a diffuser-look apron.

It will also feature 19-inch seven-spoke AMG light alloy wheels, 15mm lowered suspension with stiffer spring and dampers and an optional AGILITY CONTROL suspension setup with variable damping. The sport inspired MPV also gets a 17-inch braking system with Mercedes-Benz lettering on the callipers.

The interiors of the AMG Line get silver and chrome trim around the air vents, AMG branding in the cabin, carbon-fibre look dashboard accents, black headliner and sports pedals in brushed-aluminium look. The company states that this will be the first time that the AMG Line will be offered in the MPVs from the Mercedes-Benz Vans division. The AMG Line trim level will be made available for both V-Class and V-Class Avantgarde.

The German automaker has also announced upgrades to the standard V-Class with the introduction of a large panoramic roof, which is the largest in the segment with 1.90 x 1.12 metre glass area. Other revisions include a larger centre console, integrated cooler compartment, LED illuminated thermo-cupholders and iPad holders. The update also brings more convenience with 220V and 12V points and USB and SD Card connectivity.

Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans says that the V-Class has redefined the MPV segment. The introduction of the V-Class AMG Line will be aimed at new customers who are looking for even more individuality and emotional appeal.
