The Mercedes GLC-Class that replaces the GLK-Class and was unveiled last month. The compact luxury crossover is based on the same platform as the C-Class and falls between the GLA-Class and the GLE-Class.
It will directly compete with the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5, and next year, the company will launch a coupe version of the GLC-Class to rival with the BMW X4. Coupe crossovers have recently become popular with the BMW X6 and X4 and Mercedes is ready to gain a strong foothold in this segment with the GLE Coupe and the future GLC Coupe.
The GLE Coupe goes on sale in the United States next month. The concept for the GLC Coupe was unveiled at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. Remco Meulendijk of RM.Design has rendered how the production-spec GLC Coupe could possibly look like.
The front is likely to look identical as the GLC-Class crossover, with the same headlamps, bumper and grille. However, like all coupes, it is will slope down from the middle and have a rear fascia similar to the GLE Coupe.
Not much emphasis has been laid on the interior and technical specifications. However, the production version will likely feature a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine, producing 366 hp and 520 Nm of torque. This engine is also available in the GLE Coupe and was seen in the Concept GLC Coupe. The 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission should be standard.
