Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the GLE 450 AMG. This is the third model of the AMG Sport series after the C450 AMG and the GLE 450 AMG Coupe.
The exterior of the sporty crossover features details such as the black trim for the front bumpers, high gloss black-painted 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels (five twin-spoke 21-inch optional) and dual chrome plated twin tailpipes at the rear. The interior gets to see more revisions; there is a Nappa leather covered flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, trim parts in longitudinal-grain aluminium, brushed stainless steel sports pedals and sporty round dials on the instrument cluster.
Under the hood, there’s a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine found in the other two AMG Sport offerings. This unit produces 367 hp (270 kW) and 520 Nm of torque, mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. As the name suggests, this model is equipped with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system. The GLE 450 AMG sprints from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.7 seconds with a top whack limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The NEDC combined fuel economy is rated at 11.62 km/l, while the CO2 emissions figure is marked 199 g/km.
The dynamic character of the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC is made possible by various factors, with one of them being the drive torque that is distributed in a ratio of 40:60 (front axle:rear axle). The AIRMATIC package including an air suspension, infinitely variable adaptive damping system (ADS Plus) and automatic level control. This system allows for various driving conditions, ranging from sport to comfort. Precise steering response is obtained through the Sports Direct-Steer system which has a ratio of 17.4:1.
The standard features list comprises a number of safety and assistance systems such as Adaptive brake, attention assist, collision prevention assist plus, ISOFIX child seat attachment, TPMS, crosswind assist and pre-safe system.
